  • On May 07, 2011, the college celebrated the Sesquicentennial Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in collaboration with State Resource Centre, NEHU, Shillong. Professor J.B. Bhattacharjee, Former-Vice-Chancellor, Assam University, Silchar was the Guest Speaker on the occasion. Debasish Chowdhury, Principal, Women’s College, Shillong also spoke on the occasion.
  • On May 09, 2011, the college observed the 150th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore as per its routine schedule. Professor (Smt) Mukti Choudhury, Former Principal, Cotton College, Guwahati; Former Chairperson, Assam State Commission for Women; and presently Member, Assam State Social Welfare Board delivered a talk on “Tagore and the North East” during the function. Debasish Chowdhury, Principal, Women’s College, Shillong delivered the Welcome Address.
  • On May 13, 2011, an faculty enrichment session on ‘Fulbright Fellowship-An Introduction’ was held at the college. Ms Shevanti Narayan, Regional Officer and Educational Adviser, United States India Education Foundation was the Resource Person.

    • A UGC-sponsored one-day workshop shall be held on June 03, 2011
    • A camp by the NSS Volunteers of the college would be held at Nongpyrdet, an adopted village of the college on June 04, 2011.
    • Tree Plantation and other awareness activities on environmental issues at college campus on June 06, 2011
  • Admission for Degree Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) and Pre Degree Classes opens on May 23, 2011 for academic session 2011-12

Greetings from all of us at Women’s College, Shillong and a warm welcome to the official website of the college. At our institution we humbly acknowledge that while training and the quality of training provided accounts for a significant component of education, the sole objective of any educational set up need not and cannot be limited to skill generation alone. Treating education as such makes the exercise a gross misadventure.
